Today was the Bikes, Beer, BBQ and Bluegrass event at Pocahontas State Park to raise funds for the IMBA Richmond Ride Center. But let me back up. It was also the annual Virginia Waterways Cleanup. Mi familia participated in this event last year and I managed to get them to come out with me again this year. It was a cold morning, but they were troopers and we picked up a lot of trash.
After the cleanup, T & Lo left me behind and I sauntered over to the BBB&B event. The event started with several group rides. I hooked up with a group doing to “old trails”. We did Green & Blue, and then a smaller group of us did the more technical Red trail.
One guy riding with us was from PA and came down to visit his brother. He was really psyched about the trails at PSP, which was cool to hear.
The ride was over around 1PM and by then the BBQ was hot, the beer was cold, and the bluegrass was bumpin’. It was a great event with great people in a great state park. What more could you ask for? We also got to take a look at a new trail work toy that is on loan from Richmond M.O.R.E.
